Firefly Lane

TV

This week's episode is filled with all things movies & dramatic television, there's absolutely no time for weather talk. Elizabeth & Sarah immediately kick things off with some movie banter, first pondering whether or not they will watch Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar (and if their husbands would be interested), following that up with a small unplanned dive into Disney's live action Mulan (around the 2:58 mark).

This week’s episode is filled with all things movies & dramatic television, there’s absolutely no time for weather talk. Elizabeth & Sarah immediately kick things off with some movie banter, first pondering whether or not they will watch Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar (and if their husbands would be interested), following that up with a small unplanned dive into Disney’s live action Mulan (around the 2:58 mark). Their review is as follows, it makes you want to watch the animated version and hear some sweet, sweet Donny Osmond. In addition, the song “True to Your Heart” (via 98 Degrees and Stevie Wonder) is still a bop and Christina Aguilera needs to have a mainstream hit stat!

Content Warning: Firefly Lane contains depictions of characters dealing with sexual assault and miscarriages. We briefly discuss these topics on this week’s episode of the podcast, starting around the 12:15 mark.

Firefly Lane took the sisters by surprise, they expected a light “Hallmark style” watch, and that’s definitely not what they got. Instead they got a story about two lifelong best friends, and the ups and downs that come with that. It’s a show with serious Now and Then vibes filled with perfectly executed time jumps, 2003 nostalgia, flip phones, big hair/glasses and Sarah Chalke giving us the epitome of that clumsy, foot in mouth rom-com friend. By the end of their discussion both agree that Netflix needs to renew the show for a 2nd season, mostly so they don’t have to read the book series it’s based on to find out how all these cliffhangers wrap up.
